| Uzumaki
The young boy stands behind the door and watches, Hidden in the shadows, eyes wide, mind a funnel, As he sees the shadows interact, One coming down on the other over And over.
The teen loiters in the high school bathroom, Taking another slow toke on his joint, Letting the numbness flush through his body, Looking down at the motionless body of the student Whose only crime was: Existence.
The businessman lets a slow grin spread across His face as he calls in yet another peon. The THC still lingers, dulling his pain, Letting him focus on cutting down His subordinate, using his tongue Like a scythe on reaping day.
The husband comes home to his wife, Only to find that there was nothing For dinner, on television, in the paper, And his child, peering around the corner, Watches the shadows, Until one lies, motionless, On the floor.

thanks.

| Yes, Uzumaki does mean spiral. The idea was that the boy in the first stanza grows to become the teen, the man, and the husband, at which point it "spirals" to the next generation, his son seeing what he saw himself as a child. I'm glad you enjoyed it. And no, no one else is on here yet, you should help encourage more people to come. I think this would be a great way for people to stay in touch and share work even after the semester ends. | |
